Easter Party

Brandon is so annoyed to have to stop and pose for a picture. He just wants to get into his classroom and start the festivities.

Egg Hunt

Brandon cleaned house during the egg hunt. Interesting observation I made at the party afterwards, especially with the debates and all the politicking going on these days.
The kids were sitting around the table, all seeming very happy with their loot. Then it was time for the kids to count their eggs. Now, whoever had more eggs, had to put some of their eggs in the middle, for those who had less to take some-so that it was all equal. It was not one of the kids who had this idea. So, the kids hear this and start counting. No one wanted to give up their eggs, which you'd expect. But interestingly, no one with less eggs, seemed to want any of the other kids' eggs. One girl who had done particularly well said, "Why do I have to give up my eggs?" "Because you have more than the others." "But I found them!" I just sat there not saying a word, thinking, oh sweetie pies, this is just the beginning...and the argument, doesn't change. Guess what happend? After they all picked and everything was equal, some of the kids gave back their new eggs to the kids who originally had them. Brandon willingly gave the little girl who was so upset her eggs back, because he had no interest in "girl eggs." They were pink, purple and all sparkly. I think he was afraid his big brother would beat him up if he came home with them (kidding). I can't tell you how many times I said, "Brandon, over here," coaching him on which eggs to take. He just ignored me because he had a plan. He passed up those eggs happily, to get more of the sports eggs, which were the only ones he really wanted. So next time, I think we should let the kids, who were all happy with the hunt and the eggs it yielded, be the ones with the big ideas.
In order to be fair and balanced, I will mention this. Before Brandon offered Annanya her girl eggs back, he did open it, check the treat inside, and occasionally emptied the treat into his bag before handing her the egg. Classic.

Circle Time

Brandon passed out Easter themed cookies for his gift to the class.
